Thankful

This is our "Holiday card" for 2018 along the Tobacco Heritage Trail near our house. We were all sweating and swatting away bugs, but at least the kids were decent about looking at the camera on the tripod. It's been a big year for us and we can't wait for the grand finale any day now: Baby 3!

Here and Now: Week 46

November 11-17

Here’s what we did in our everyday lives this week:

We spent some time this week writing up notes for how we do life in our house. For example, this is what nap time looks like. The plan is for Samuel and Elsie to spend the night at their little friend’s house when the baby comes, and we hope this write up will make it a little easier for everyone.

Construction worker 2 doing some technical reading on road construction

When they both wake up before 5 am....

Napping with my kids is something I can easily feel guilty about, but it’s also one of my favorite things in the world. There’s so much goodness and sweetness in it.

We went to Costco to stock up on a few things before we become a family of 5. As we walked down this aisle, Samuel enthusiastically shouted, “My baby tool chest!”. He wanted to take it home with him, but settled for a picture with it instead.

And last but not least... Happy Birthday, Brent! 42 is going to be an amazing one! Very grateful for the opportunity to spend another year of life together. You’re our favorite.

Week 45

November 4-10

A little glimpse of what we did in our everyday lives this week...

“Mama! Look at my car shop!”

Samuel begged to make muffins one morning — and then he and Elsie, proceeded to eat a DOZEN of them!!!!! This photo was taken midway through the muffin frenzy.

Playing in the leaves

Napping

When we moved here in July, locals shared the happy news that a playground had just been installed! Unfortunately, four months later, we are still waiting for it to actually open. This photo represents new progress: the mulch for under the play equipment has been delivered. Hooray! Now we will watch and wait for it to be spread. Samuel asks to drive by and check on the mulch pile nearly every day...

Making leaf lanterns

Maybe one year we will start a new tradition and make lanterns to celebrate Martinmas. Or maybe we will just make lanterns because it’s fun to collect leaves, get decoupage everywhere, and then have to take a bath just to be less sticky. Hah!

Meet Little Baby Jansson! Emma and Dylan, friends from church and coworkers from the ranch, moved away from Oregon the same week we moved. They were 3 weeks ahead of us in their pregnancy. We’re so excited that their beautiful daughter is here. Welcome sweet girl!

Speaking of babies, we’ve been preparing for our new baby. I ordered a small box of newborn diapers and couldn’t believe how tiny they are. They look even smaller in person!

44. Here and Now.

October 28 - November 3

We’ve had some amazing fall days this week! The babies and I decided to celebrate the sunshine by taking a walk on our local nature trail. Before we knew it, we’d spent over two hours throwing leaves off the bridge, playing with rocks, and using sticks to drum on logs. Getting outside [usually] brings out the better sides of each of us. It is something I need to make more of a priority—especially when the sun is shining!

It takes ten seconds for our living room to look like this.

Napping in his big boy bed

When the babies pick out their clothes... Elsie loves her rainbow leggings; Samuel chooses his “daddy shorts,” a collared shirt, and a new tie from Mima.

Saturday morning pancakes

Trying to do a little pre-baby meal planning to stock our freezer

Halloween dinner—more pancakes!

Throwing rocks in the reservoir

Another sunny day, another walk
