Christmas Greetings 2012!

Although Jill and I may be half-way around the world from each other (Hey there, Australia!) we still wanted to make our annual Christmas video.  (Hello 2009, 2010, and 2011.) Admittedly 8000 miles was a bit of a set back.  However, we dusted off some footage, added one of our very favorite holiday songs, tossed in a picture from our last trip together, and voila:  a wonderful Christmas time!

Wishing you a Simply Wonderful wherever you may be!

Make My Dreams

Ooo-ooo, ooo-ooo.

Although I love playing games, my new favorite party activity is the photo booth.  (Did you ever see this?) The photo booth at Hannah's shower was no exception.  It took a bit of encouragement to get people involved, but by the end of the afternoon we managed to get every guest in at least one picture.  Success!

Happy shower!

Molly

P.S.  This is my first time to edit the video! (New Years resolution:  check!)  Special thanks to Jill for gifting me a little imovie lesson and for all of her help & patience!

Look Both Ways

This video shows the organized chaos also known as "traffic" in Ho Chi Minh City.  Although we didn't get a chance to visit HCMC, Hanoi bears a striking resemblance.  Crazy!

Remembering Japan

One year ago today, Japan was reeling from an earthquake -- turned tsunami -- turned nuclear disaster. It was one of the worst tragedies in the new millennium.

This video doesn't shy away from the terror of the moment and the horror of the first days. But even in the awful aftermath, the film shifts focus and brings hope to the forefront. It is a beautiful tribute to the people of Japan who who are fighting hard to rebuild what they love.

Japan-I'm still thinking of you.

Christmas Gretings 2011!

For the first time in two years I've been able to celebrate Christmas in Washington. So far the trip's been cold, rainy, and really cold.  When I haven't been freezing, it's also been all sorts of lovely. I have to agree--whoever said "there's no place like home for the holidays" kinda knew what they were talking about.

This year Jill and I are calling "Yoo-hoo!" by sending out our annual Christmas video card in super-speed style.  We hope it puts you in a ring-ting-tingaling mood.  Happy Holidays!

I'd definitely like to thank Jill for being the mastermind behind the video.  Additional thanks go out to Mike for letting us use his camera and for helping us film.

If you're wanting to stretch out the season just a little bit longer, here are our silly videos from Christmas past.  Combined, they'll give you an extra 4 minutes and 23 seconds of holiday cheer.

P.S. Although at first glance you might think we filmed this in the US, everything of course was done right here in Abu Dhabi. A Christmas display in the mall might not seem like a very big deal, but the more I watch the video, the more I appreciate the open and accepting attitude of our Muslim country.  Thanks, UAE!

Beluga + Mariachi Band = Cuteness

Although I'm not pleased to see this little guy confined to a glass cage, I am glad to know that he appreciates a good mariachi band when he sees one.

Christmas Greetings 2010

Merry Christmas!!!

Last year, our Christmas present to you all was a a little 'gift God wrapped in beige'. This year we're giving you 12 days of non-stop U.A.E. goodness in the form of another music video. Give us one more year and I think we'll be ready for MTV Arabia.

(Although we were hoping to serenade you through the song, things got complicated and it was much easier just to read the lyrics aloud. If you give it a listen, there's no doubt about it: We definitely sound like two elementary ed teachers. Consider yourself warned.)

None of this would be possible without the talented and lovely Ms. Jill. Many thanks for the inspiration, the directing, the editing, and for staying up super late on a school night to finished the voice-over.

Wishing you MUCH love and Christmas cheer from our little corner of the world,
-m.

MUCH

A bit cheesy, but still relevant.

This clip reminds me that there is so very MUCH to be thankful for and so many reasons to live a simple, generous life.

Christmas Greetings 2009

Merry Christmas!!

Oh how I wish I could be there with you all! Since that can't quite happen this year, please consider this my Christmas card, my homemade Christmas gift, and my Christmas presence---all wrapped into one fantastically dazzling music video.

For a better viewing experience, you might try watching Christmas in the Mid East on YouTube. The size is a little funny on the blog.

Special thanks to Jill for all of the editing!

Merry Christmas everyone. I LOVE YOU!!!
-m.

P.S. Sorry for the singing. Jill and I may not know where we're headed after Abu Dhabi, but we agree that Broadway isn't likely. The track that actually made it on the video was the best take. Guaranteed. You don't even want to know how many times we attempted to sing it. Also, FYI (just in case you couldn't tell) the last line of the chorus is "Christmas in the Mid East is a gift God wrapped in beige."
